The image of the atom shown The image to the left is a typical image of an atom, but it is not accurate according to current theory that indicates that the electrons do not travel in very predictable single path orbits. Scientists prefer to speak of orbitals, and area of probability of where an electron is likely to be found inside an atom. Orbitals NOT Orbits!!
